Bautistas focus is his native Dominican Republic, although the foundations work has extended to Canada. "For your typical kid from the Dominican Republic that comes from the poorer part of society, which is 80-percent of the population down in the Dominican, its not like they have a lot of options," said Bautista. "A lot of them, when they dont play sports, they have to start working at a very early age. The ones who are able to play sports and end up being good at them, most of the time they get pulled out of school to go to one of those boarding houses that house a lot of players and try to groom them into becoming the next professional baseball player."
