His father, Will Harris Sr., played for Mississippi State and was a 7th round draft pick. The junior Harris played both receiver and defense in high school and transition well full time to safety in his college career. Harris is just the latest defensive back talent to come from Boston College who has been send talent to those secondary positions in the NFL for a few seasons now. Harris is largely known for his physicality and tackling ability on the field but his coaches will point out how he grown as a communicator and leader on the field and off it. What ought to excite defensive backs coaches is Harris’ versatility. Sure he may start his career as a special teams contributor but he is one of the few prospects in this class that has a potential future as either a starter at free or box safety. Harris confirmed he has the athletic profile to do so at the combine. Harris could surprise and be selected much earlier than what was anticipated.StrengthsGood size, great speed, agility, quickness, and explosion for the position.Played all over the field. Can play deep coverage, can come up and defend the LOS, can play as a dime linebacker in certain situations, and rush the passer. Has some twitch and can stick with receivers through their routes. Flexibility and change of direction skills look good. Can read the pre snap cues and call out adjustments to his teammates. Full speed ahead when playing down field and has the toughness to fight through blocks. High effort player who plays will good awareness. Picks good angles when working laterally or downfield and can cut off plays. Has some strength and power behind his tackling. WeaknessesWhile he can stick with opponents downfield he needs work with his coverage technique. Sometimes being there is enough but he’ll be tested in the NFL and he has to learn how to turn and track the ball, play it with good timing https://www.theredskinslockerroom.com/authentic-dwayne-haskins-jersey , etc.Can take some awkward steps in pursuit and choose arbitrary angles of a pile to ‘tackle’. I’m not convinced of the effectiveness of this. Can be a step late recognizing route patterns and adjusting in zone, not sure of this is an instinct, technique, or confidence issue.Ball skills are lacking.Let’s see his work:More Will Harris videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsIf the Redskins are still looking for ‘do-it-all’ guys instead of prototypes as the safety position Will Harris should be right up their alley. He is far from a finished product but he has the physical skills and ability to grow. He can use that to help immediately on special teams but he would also give the team great flexibility as he has experience playing both safety positions from multiple areas of the field. I’d be really interested what Horton could do with this guy. In some ways I think he lacks pure cover skills but I wonder how much of that is from lack of natural feel vs. missed learning opportunities in school. Figuring that out will play a huge role in his development. He also needs some reps on the jug machine because he honestly did not show very well playing the ball in coverage or creating turnovers with that ability. If Harris lasts till day 3 of the draft I have to think the Redskins will be at least taking a look even with the current depth at the position. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — There’s a cockiness about the Washington Redskins‘ defense. They’re shutting down some of the NFL’s top running backs, making life miserable for opposing quarterbacks, not giving up many points — and doing a lot of talking. Why not? The unit is the major reason the NFC East-leading Redskins (5-2) have matched their best start since 2008.Safety D.J. Swearinger intercepted two passes, Matt Ioannidis had 2½ sacks, and the Redskins rode their defense to a third straight win, a 20-13 decision over the offensively inept New York Giants on Sunday. The Redskins sacked a battered Eli Manning seven times, forced the two turnovers, limited Saquon Barkley to 38 yards rushing and made big play after big play in sending New York (1-7) to its fifth straight loss.“We still have done nothing around here Womens Dwayne Haskins Jersey ,” Swearinger said. “We beat them, but we haven’t won the division. We haven’t won the championship. We haven’t won the Super Bowl. There’s no room for lackadaisical. We haven’t done nothing yet. We’re just getting started. We’re just turning the stove on. We ain’t even put the grease in yet.”In some sense that’s true. The Redskins are winning and their offense is not lighting it up.Adrian Peterson caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Alex Smith and ran for a season-high 149 yards, with the last 64 coming on a touchdown jaunt with 3:06 to play. Dustin Hopkins added field goals of 53 and 39 yards for the Redskins“I think we’ve invested some resources in the defense, hoping they would pay off,” said Redskins coach Jay Gruden, whose team has a 1½-game lead in the division. “We hoping this is what we’re trying to build. In this division, you’ve got to play great defense, in my opinion. This is critical for our success; until we get going offensively we have to win games like this. There’s nothing wrong with that.”The three-game winning streak is their longest in two seasons.Aldrick Rosas kicked field goals of 37 and 21 yards for the Giants. Manning, 30 of 47 for 316 yards, hit Evan Engram on a 2-yard touchdown pass with :17 to play.Engram also let a scoring chance slipped away at the Redskins 32 when a short fourth-down pass went through his fingers with New York down 10-3 early in the fourth quarter. The Giants came into the game wondering whether the trades this past week of starting cornerback Eli Apple and 2016 All-Pro defensive tackle Damon Harrison would be a problem. New York’s defense was fine. Its offense wasn’t, and the Redskins’ defense was very, very good.“We are not scoring enough points Dwayne Haskins Jersey White ,” Manning said. “We are playing in close games and we are just not finding ways to win them, unfortunately. We have to be able to move the ball more consistently and we have to control the clock to help out our defense.”A major difference was Washington capitalized in the red zone, especially in the first half. Smith (20 of 32 for 178 yards) capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive with a TD pass to Peterson, who stepped out of a tackle by backup linebacker Nate Stupar at the 4-yard line.New York had two trips inside the Washington 20. Swearinger ended the first, stepping inside of Odell Beckham Jr., to intercept a slant pass at the 8-yard line.Rosas kicked a 37-yard field goal on the second drive after passes of 11 yards to Beckham and 24 to Saquon Barkley got New York in scoring position.Beckham had seven catches for 125 yards.Hopkins missed a 41-yard field goal after the Swearinger interception.Washington never lost the lead in the second half as its defense kept Manning ducking most of the day.“Our confidence is already high,” Redskins linebacker Zach Brown. “We don’t care what running back is back there. You’ve got to deal with us at the end of the day. We’re going to make you get out of that running game. We don’t want you to run the ball. We don’t want you to control the clock. boys back there do their thing.”INJURY REPORTRedskins: T Trent Williams (dislocated thumb), RB Kapri Bibbs (dislocated shoulder), S Troy Apke (aggravated a hamstring) and LB Ryan Anderson (sprained knee-MCL) were hurt during the game.Giants: RT Chad Wheeler left in the second half with an ankle injury and was replaced by Brian Mihalik.UP NEXTRedskins: host Atlanta on Sunday.Giants: a much-needed bye. Return at San Francisco for Monday game on Nov. 12.
