Photo: Cui MengGT Chinese long jumper Wang Jia'nan -became the first male Asian to claim a medal in the event at the World -Championships after placing third at Beijing's Bird's Nest on Tuesday.

In his last attempt, he had hoped to surpass second-ranked Lapierre Fabrice of France, but a mistake led to a jump of only 6.27 meters.
He said he believes he can do better in the future.
