On Tuesday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel first reported that Redmond suffered an injury to his right Achilles tendon during a doubles tennis match. He told the paper that the tendon just popped and that surgery is scheduled for this Friday. Redmond had his contract extended through the 2017 season in late September after guiding the Marlins to a 15-win improvement from the 2013 season and the teams first winning home record since 2010.
